Fungy is No Longer on Pause!


After releasing this game and getting a ton of amazing feedback and positive reviews, we have decided that we are going to continue Fungy!

Thanks to everyone who has played the game, and a  huge thanks to all the kind words that you all have sent. We have so many ideas for the final version of Fungy that this may take well over a year to finish!

We are extremely excited, though! Here are the things we would like to add by the end:


The Combat System

Currently, if we are being honest with ourselves, Fungy only appears to have a combat system. In reality, the combat in the game ends up becoming more of a twine game. We certainly like it because it gives us the chance to have some really fun dialogue, but we think we can definitely mix in a true RPG combat system with crit chances, counters, etc.. 

We believe that we will still keep the twine-like combat for the end of boss fights so that we can keep our game strong with witty dialogue and funny options, but we will be adding many more battles with  Govcorp minions. The combat will still be dialogue based and have fun dialogue lines with each attack!

Govcorp minions? That's right! What's a good RPG without minions to fight throughout the game! We don't imagine them to be very grindy, as I am personally not a fan of that. However, we do want there to be sufficient complexity in this combat system that keeps it interesting throughout the game, and never something you are dreading.

You know what else helps making turn-based combat fun? Sick animations, backgrounds, and sound! That's right. All of the current combat goes to a black screen. Boring! We are going to work very hard to remake this combat space into something more interesting, visually appealing, and fun. For instance, we already know that when you flame someone, Fungy will shoot flames out of their mouth and still have the fun dialogue that comes when you flame someone!


Inventory

Right now, you can collect characters and use them to help you get past other characters. While this is still a mechanic we want to keep, it is a bit boring. You can't use them at will, and need to wait and see until you can use them. We want to use these characters to truly boost combat stats. Who doesn't want to see the Climate Change Denier talk to the Instagram Influencer?!? Or, all the things that each character has to say to the Govcorp minions?


And the part we are most excited for...

The prequel!!!!

At the moment, when you start playing Fungy, you are told that all of their plant friends are dying. Well, that's touching and all, but wouldn't the game be much better if you actually got to create bonds with these plant friends?

That's right, the beginning of the game is now going to be a cute RPG style where you are bonding with your plant friends and have to complete tasks for them, or even play some fun minigames with your pals! Unfortunately... Things will go south, but new players won't know that ;)


Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. We have ideas for so many jokes, and so many touching moments. As four college students with no money, it will be a while until this finishes, but we hope that you will continue with us on this journey, and stay tuned for the final version of Fungy!
